Worklife Support for you - the Employee Assistance Programme

Worklife Support for you

Worklife Support for you is an invaluable resource that supports every individual working in your organisation.

It promotes emotional wellbeing, enhances personal effectiveness and helps reduce sickness absence.

Staff are offered free access to a dedicated help line offering information, support and counselling around the clock, which improves work-life balance and can save both employer and employee time and money.

Worklife Support for you is an employee assistance programme (EAP) developed specifically for smaller organisations such as schools and charities.

EAPs are a cost-effective way of ensuring that employees are offered professional resources and support before their problems begin to affect productivity and performance at work.

"EAPs have an important role to play in helping keep sickness absence lower than it otherwise might be"
Carol Black and David Frost / Health at Work - an independent review of sickness absence, 2011

The service provides every member of staff free access to our team of specialist advisors and counsellors offering:
  • Legal advice and guidance
  • Emotional support and counselling, including face-to-face counselling as standard
  • Financial advice and debt counselling
  • Specialist information services on a wide range of work-life issues
  • Support and consultation for managers

Contacting Worklife Support for you

Call the 0800 telephone number you should have been given by your organisation and which should be on posters, leaflets etc. We do not publicise the number here to ensure that only staff from contracted organisations use the service.

Why buy an EAP?

EAPs are proven to increase productivity and performance, and to help reduce sickness absence levels.

Worklife Support for you can complement and support your existing polices, such as performance management, and can help you meet your legal duty of care as an employer.

The service is popular with staff, not least because it is easy, free to use and quick - a maximum 10 days to the first counselling appointment - compared with other services.

A school with 10 staff can be covered for less than the cost of a day's supply.

“When I had a member of staff who was in the midst of a complex relationship/ property split up, it was very helpful to be able to suggest that she made contact with the EAP… she received a very positive response, support and counselling within a few days. The member of staff seemed able to deal with the problem and not let it affect her work.”
Leslie Church, Headteacher, Downhills Primary School, London

“The EAP has proved particularly successful this year; it is a helpful management tool to be able to remind staff of the service when they’re facing a range of personal difficulties."
Headteacher, Doncaster
