How the Well-Being Programme Works

This page describes how a standard Well-Being Programme works in a school or local authority. We tailor our approach to local circumstances so please contact us for more on how we might work for you.

What happens

  • A Leadership Briefing - to engage leaders and middle managers in the Well-Being Programme
  • Staff are introduced to the Programme
  • Well-Being Team induction - training for members of the school’s Well-Being Team
  • Individual access for all staff to the online Well-Being Survey – the survey takes about 15 minutes to complete
  • A comprehensive Data Profile report analysing the school’s survey data is produced
  • Well-Being Development session – at this session, the the Well-Being Team work through their Data Profile, facilitated by Worklife Support, and receive training and resources to assist them in addressing the issues raised back in school
  • Review session - approximately 6 months after the Development session, schools come together again to review progress and plan their next steps.
  • On-going support and resource materials - to ensure that staff wellbeing becomes an integrated part of schools’ organisational practice. This includes access to the Well-Being Teams' and EAP Champions' websites.

Types of Programme

A standard Well-Being Programme usually runs with a group of schools covering several hundred staff, either in informal local groups or as part of a local authority programme.

The programme may also integrate access to Worklife Support for you - the employee assistance programme.

Larger schools may have an Enhanced Programme which involves more dedicated, in-school support from Worklife Support consultants. A schedule for a school year on the enhanced programme is available for download.

We recommend that programmes run for at least two years, including two Well-Being Surveys, so that the process can become embedded in the life of the school.
